The NeoGeo Pocket was released on october 28, 1998, the same year as Nintendo released it’s gameboy color. SNK realized that the monochromatic version wouldn’t stand a chance against the colored version of the Gameboy and on june 1, 1999 they released a color version of the same device which is identical to the original with the exception of the screen. Being far superior to the GBC, the NGPC did lose the battle. Probably because it’s higher price and the higher price of the games and the fact that the GBC had a lot more games for it.
